Brikette
Brikette was our oldest cat at 15 years old. She lived with 6 other Siamese kitties and became Siamese by following the other kitties actions. Brikette was by far the most vocal of our Siamese kitties. Every night while I read, she sat on my head and groomed my hair. She passed away peacefully in my arms and is now playing with her brothers and sisters in kitty heaven. We will miss her dearly!!
King Tut
Just before Christmas, 2013, King Tut went over the Rainbow Bridge. He was very much loved by his family and will not be forgotten.
Djembe
I am writing with a heavy heart today. Last Wed. I had to put down my
very special buddy, Djembe.....a MISR cat I adored. A djembe is a type of
African drum. I am a composer and was working on a piece of music with African percussion in it when I adopted him.
He was found as a kitten in Detroit in 2003, turned into the Michigan Humane Society and subsequently, brought to MISR.
I had him for almost 11 years and was so bonded to that guy. I’ve never known another cat like him. His beauty inspired me. His clever ways made me laugh and his love for me was obvious. His life with me was very happy, if not long enough for me.
He developed a fast-growing cancer and declined so quickly it hardly seems real
Even as he got weaker he was affectionate and close. The tumors grew alarmingly fast. I didn't wait for him to get bad. I loved him too much to let him suffer. My girlfriend is a vet, and he passed away peacefully in my arms at our house. It was the hardest goodbye yet for me.
My other cat, a snow-shoe-type female, is getting by, but is still lost without him. I got him to keep her company years ago. Soon I shall be looking for a kitten. Though I know no other cat will ever be the same as my Djembe, I definitely want another Siamese. He was the second MISR cat I adopted and both were spectacular cats with strong, warm personalities.
Thanks to you and MISR for rescuing these wonderful cats. I had years of companionship and enjoyment with Djembe because you cared. I so appreciate that!

Misty
Misty came to MISR and the home of her foster dad, Rick, on May 22, 2009. A person who saw her being abused by children had turned her into a local shelter. Although Misty had some serious health issues, she was able to live a very good life with much love and care from Rick. He believed that Misty was close to 15 years old and that her hard life before being rescued had put those extra years on her. Something Rick will always remember was Misty’s way of greeting him. Sometimes she would look at him, open her mouth, and let out an ear-piercing meow. Other times she would look at him open her mouth, and not a sound would come out. Misty went over the rainbow bridge on February 15, 2014 and will be greatly missed. Misty had a very unique, sweet personality and will leave a huge void in Rick's life and in the lives of all who knew her. There was no one quite like Misty.
Winston
It is with heavy heart that I send this. I thought Winston and I would have many more years together. He came to live at his forever home with me on 7/16/11. He was a happy boy and so incredibly loving. He was smart, understanding everything I said to him, as if he was human. He just passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, 12/10/13, but the hole he has left in my heart is huge. I could not have asked for a better companion. I loved him and he loved me.
His passing was unexpected, even the vet was shocked. I miss him very much but know that he is playing with family and friends on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Kim
