Hello everyone my name is Lionel and I have been a very unlucky boy. A wonderful shelter volunteer pulled me from my crate when a lady saw me around her house for a couple of days and took me the the animal shelter. When I was pulled from my crate, my now foster mom saw my leg, it was horrible looking and she was very concerned. She put me back into a crate and ran right down to the vet with me. They told me there I had a pretty nasty bite wound on my back leg and immediately tested me for LK and FIV, since who knows who I had been fighting with! Well good news, I didn't have either of those, lucky me! Then my new foster mommy had to give me yucky tasting medicine for a long time. Then I got really sick and she rushed me back, they put me under anesthesia to close the wound and stapled it shut. No I did not really like that at all, but I was a good boy and never licked at it or bothered it. More yucky tasting medicine, and weeks went by, my leg was healing good when I got another problem. My eye started to bother me and in just a few days time I couldn't see out of it! It was very swollen and hurt but I knew not to dig at it or bother it, down to the vet again and they switched me to an even yuckier tasting medicine. WHEW! Now my mom had to put meds in my eye three times a day and give me that yucky stuff in my mouth. Well I was worried, I knew my mom was, too, and the vet told her I may loose my eye. I did not know what that meant, how could I loose my eye? So the vet gave my mom another medication to put in my eye three times a day as well as the other two. Boy I am lucky my foster mom really cares about me, I try to be so good for her and I know she is doing it to help me, so I never fight or fuss. I love all other cats and wish that I could have a friend since I am getting so many meds and all this special treatment though I do not feel too bad. I am what my mommy calls a BIG lap cat! Please if you think you are ready for a 12 pound lap cat who loves the company or either people, cats, or dogs think of saving me today. I will not be ready to go for a while yet, and now the nice vet told me I will not loose my eye, but it will be scarred and it might make it hard to see from one side, but the other is fine. I really do get along fine right now so it will not effect me, my mommy says that I will be special needs? What is that, well either way I just want someone to love me and scratch my tummy. PLEASE think of me or one of my friends we all have stories and need a happy ending.

I am neutered, and FIV/FELV tested negative, wormed and flea treated. Before I leave I will have my rabies and distemper shots.

When Lionel's eye is completely healed it may just show a small blueish area on the eye. It will not bother him. Some people may never notice it.
