Hello everyone-
My name is Phoebe. I am a 1 year old lynx point girl, with a dash of torti and a splash of snowshoe thrown in. Though you kind of have to squint to see the Meezer in me at first glance, my wide blue eyes, ready purr, and loving personality give testimony to my siamese heritage. The folks here at MISR say I have my very own guardian angel. You see, I was found just before the holiday on the cold, cold street of Detroit by a very nice lady. Though I was extremely sick, cold, thin, and exhausted, I purred as soon as she touched me. Even though it was a very tough time for her, she said she couldn't leave me there, and so she scooped me up, took me home, made me as comfortable as possible, then contacted the rescue. I went to the vet, who said I had a horrible upper respiratory infection. Even worse then that, my FeLV (leukemia) test came back "mildly positive." Both my rescuer and the MISR folks were very upset-- everyone agreed I'm such a sweetheart, and that it's so unfair. However, the vet did stress it just showed a trace of "positive"on the test, and I may retest negative in a few months. Even if I don't, there is a good chance I could live for years as an only kitty, with a canine companion, or in a home with other FeLV positive kitties. So can you believe that same nice lady took me back home, and has spent tons of time giving me medication (yuck!), and spoiling me rotten?!?!?! Its so wonderful to have food, warmth, and love......now I *do* believe in Santa Claus!!!
I still have a ways to go before I am 100%, but my final Christmas Wish is to find a forever home. I am so grateful to my rescuer, and show her my appreciation with affection, headbutts, and purrs, but sadly I can't stay with her indefinitely. I know I am not a perfectly marked Meezer on the outside, but I am perfect on the inside. Please don't hesitate to contact your vet or MISR for additional info on FeLV positive cats. MISR will pay to retest me when its time, along with anything else I need before going "home". If you can't adopt me, please consider a donation --even a little bit goes a really long way, and will help other lucky meezers and meezer mixes find their happy ending. Happy Holidays, and I hope to meet you soon!
