In Memory:
Blanche was kept in a loving foster home until her liver and kidney disease became too much for her to continue to enjoy being with us. On 20 November 2003 she was accompanied to the foot of the Rainbow Bridge where we had to stay behind and watch as she went onward without us. The memory of her warm and loving soul will be with us always. We will miss her dearly.

Below is the description that we had for her while she was still with us:

Blanche is listed here not because she is the perfect, adoptable cat. She is here because she is the sweetest, most gentle senior Meezer that has fallen on hard times and needs help.

Blanche came to our rescue from an Animal Control that knew only that she was a stray. In our care it became quickly apparent that she has a wonderful, very people oriented personality. She is also good with other cats, currently she is doing duty as a "foster-aunt" to one of our kittens whom she cleans and cares for.

Unfortunately Blanche is near as deaf as a doorpost and has an incurable disease that makes it impossible for her to concentrate her urine. If she looses access to water due to stress or geography she will very quickly become dehydrated to the point that it would be fatal if not immediately recognized and treated.

She is being cared for by a MISR volunteer that understands her illness and can give her fluids under her skin as needed to keep her pepped up.

While we would be ecstatic to find a special person who would understand Blanche's special challenges and would be able to care for her, we are asking for help in caring for her. Her vet visit that diagnosed her disease was very expensive and she will need continuing occasional fluid therapy. As long as she is comfortable and can enjoy her life and interactions with her foster family we will never consider euthanasia for her and will care for her as long as her health keeps up.
