Riggins needs a quiet home with no children and no other animals.

He is a beautiful, five-year-old, Chocolate Point Siamese, neutered, micro chipped male. His home was quiet until two children joined the family.  Riggins is patient and tries to ignore them by walking away but he is afraid of their boisterous activities.  As the children have become more mobile and talkative, Riggins has become more fearful. His owners can no longer provide the quiet environment he needs. They are heartbroken but realize this is the right thing to do for Riggins.

Riggins is a cautious cat, slow to trust, but once he trusts you, he is devoted. He is a cuddle bug and loves to sleep at the foot of the bed or snuggled up against you. Riggins follows his owners around the house and wants to be near them. He loves being on the highest perch so he can see everything. He is good at hiding, it is amazing the places he can get into, considering his size.

Riggins is a smart cat and figures out how to get what he wants. He can open (lever) doors and Tupperware containers of cat food.  He is playful and enjoys feather duster toys, mouse-like toys, lasers, the toys with balls inside a track that can be pushed around. Riggins enjoys a challenging play session, but if it is too easy, he gets bored.

He was previously an indoor/outdoor cat, and loved to hunt. His owners are now keeping him indoors only. It may take some time for him to learn he cannot go outside.  This training will need to be reinforced with his new owners and they will need to watch him when they are entering and exiting the home.  So far, he is doing well with staying in the house.

Riggins has never scratched, bitten, hissed or growled. Miss Manners would be proud of him. If he is bothered by something or someone he walks away or if he’s scared, he hides.

Riggins likes faux fur blankets and will sleep anywhere there is a soft blanket. He enjoys lying on laps while his owners watch TV.  He sleeps length-wise, often between two legs that are reclined.  Sometimes he sleeps so soundly, he doesn’t notice when he is slowly slipping off the couch.

Riggins is a healthy boy born in October 2013 (estimate) and weighs about 14 pounds (solid muscle).  He recently had eight teeth pulled due to a genetic condition and now has a much healthier mouth.  He uses the litter box faithfully. He enjoys wet food twice a day, and constantly munches on dry food.

Riggins would make a wonderful pet for someone with a peaceful and tranquil home where he can relax and not worry about being startled by very small humans.

All MISR cats are spayed/neutered, current on rabies and distemper, FIV/FELV tested, and all known health issues have been addressed. Riggins is located in Grand Rapids and his adoption fee is $125.
