UPDATE 9-29-2005:
Rescued from a rural farm setting, treated aggressively for an upper respiratory infection (URI) with medication, good food, and lots of affection....the worst should have been over, with only settling into
pampered foster care to recover, while awaiting a forever home, on the agenda for the immediate future. Sadly, this was not the case for poor
Mocha Latte. He battled his URI bravely, and seemed to be on the mend, when he inexplicably started showing signs of a neurological disorder. He deteriorated very rapidly, despite the best efforts of his foster mom and the veterinarian. The vet speculates he may have gotten into some poison or eaten a "bad mouse" while fending for himself, but whatever
the cause, nothing he tried could stop the downward spiral, and poor Mocha quickly lost the ability to walk or function. He was suffering tremendously, and regretfully so was humanely euthanized with much love and tears. It was a tragic and abrupt ending to what should have been a long, happy life. Many people inquired about Mocha, and we wanted to
thank them all, share his story, and also assure everyone that he was much loved and very spoiled during his short time with us. His loss makes the ones we are able to save all the more precious.
